You might think that Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokèmon are the same exact thing: a collecting card game. This is not true.
If you look at a Pokèmon card, this is what you will see:
(name of the card) (health)(types)
(name of the attack)(however much damage it does)
(name of the attack)(however much damage it does)
(special effects)
However, If you look at a Yu-Gi-Oh! card, you will see something like this:
(name of the card)
(level of the card)
(attributes and types)
(optional: special effects)
(attack strength)(defense strength)
I will now discuss the similarities of these two card games.
#1) Collections
One of the main similarities between Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokèmon is that they are both cards for collecting. You mainly buy both of them in mystery booster packs that you do not know what they will come with, but you can also buy them in individual decks that tell you what is in them.
People trade both of them, and trade either so that they can battle each other, or so that they can brag to their friends on how many of the cards they have. シ
#2) Effects
Another thing that these two card games have in common is that they both have special effects that can help you in-game. Even though these effects can vary by game, from poisoning in Pokèmon to summoning monsters back from the GY in Yu-Gi-Oh!.
The effects also both depend on what kind of type the card is, which is the next thing that I am going to talk about.
#3) Types
Yet another similarity between the two collecting games is the different types.
In Pokemon the types are mostly elemental, like fire, water, and ice, but in Yu-Gi-Oh! types are based on what the monster is, so there are fairy, dragon, and warrior types.
The types are kind of like a difference in a similarity of course, so it will also be on my next list, the differences between these two card games.
